So its Tuesday Talk...

...On a Thursday.

It's been a long ten...eleven...almost twelve days since Christmas,
with too much to do and not enough time to do it in.
(Not helped by the increase of S.A.D. which I'm currently battling.
Roll on the longer, lighter, days!)

So why is Tuesday talk appearing on a Thursday?
This is why...
below just about sums the end of 2016 and start of 2017
 for me so far ...

Virtual or actual hugs will be gratefully welcome.

  1. Hugs, hugs, hugs. If you want to miss SAD, travel to Australia for our summer. Warning, it can be hot. We would love to have you visit.
    Hugs, hugs, hugs.
    Sharing coming.

    1. Unfortunately I don't do heat either... sigh, Spring and Autumn suit me just fine - as long as it isn't too wet that is!
Thanks Celia, huge hug being returned!

    1. Rest? Now what be this strange thing thee talketh off? Be it some quaint old-fashioned custom from the Middle Ages? LOL

  3. Well, Helen, you and me both! S.A.D is simply 'orrible! Nuff said! I do have a desk top size Lite Box which transforms my room into a blaze of sunlight - Alison Morton gave me the link to the Lite Box company a couple of years ago. It works really well and my dogs enjoy the mock sunshine too. On the plus side, we sufferers are the first to notice the now longer days of daylight. Still fairly light at 4.40pm is uplifting...and my Lite Box has gone away to the back of the wardrobe for another year. I dread October, which is my 'trigger' month... it's 11 weeks of misery - and now... that dark cloud is lifting. Getting outside for a minimum of 30 minutes a day really does help, Helen.

    1. I'm fortunate in that my study is (technically) a conservatory so lots of windows showing a beautiful visita across the Taw Valley of North Devon. My S.A.D. usually hits me mid-November and peaks around now. Add to this I don't get out much as the arthritis in my knee has got so bad it is painful to walk far. Can't win can you? LOL

  5. As an experiment, years ago I bought one of those 'daylight bulbs'. Not that I suffer from SAD, but I was amazed at it's semblance to a sunny day! Ideal if used in your study, while you are working I would imagine.

    1. Thanks Phil - as I mentioned above my study is all glass aong two entire sides. I don't think tiredness and a huge amount of 'to do' stuff helps. What I really need is a 'say no' box!

  7. SAD is no fun. Nor is feeling frazzled. Does it help if I tell you that I am at my desk st the office gazing st my keyboard in a state of silly amusement and (a) wondering why it doesn't have s 'wine' key, and (b) thinking, I DIDNT KNOW JACK SPARROW WAS A WRITER!!"

  9. Helen, I feel your pain. The holidays just want to go on and on at least in my brain, yet I have work to do! When it's dreary here with rain and dark days (Yes, we have those in an Ontario winter), I turn on all the lights in my office and even sometimes close the blinds and forget about the depressing rainy weather. Give me a cold snowy blue-skied Ontario day any time!
Loved your funny vignettes. Thanks for the chuckles. Sending smiles back!

    1. Today the hills beyond our orchard have vanished in a mizzle-haze. There's a Devon saying: "if you can't see the view - it's raining. If you can see the view - it's about to rain." :-)

    1. Good days, bad days. Happy days, or days when tears well for absolutely no reason. Very frustrating! I've had a few chuckles over the images above though - and enjoyed the forwarded hugs and comments! nSo thank you everyone!

  11. SAD is no good for anyone. So, I took a day trip to an animal shelter - just to look around; came home with Opie, a little Pasha-Mini-Me (funny how I had taken a kitty carrier along). Now, SAD is gone as the legacy of Pasha lives on in another bouncing furball (Adventure on my blog: http://ingehborg.blogspot.com/)

Stay the course, Helen - and keep dreaming of those fabulous River Cruises.
